Former Lion Whidden Named Graduate Assistant at Franklin Pierce

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Former Saint Leo softball pitcher Ashton Whidden has obtained the Graduate Assistant position for the Franklin Pierce University softball team, it was announced by current Ravens' Head Coach Christine Grenache.

Whidden, who will be pursuing her MBA with concentration in Leadership, will be in charge of guiding the Franklin Pierce pitching staff.

On becoming the assistant, Whidden stated, "I am very excited to start this new position and continue a career I am very passionate about. I am also very grateful to Coach Grenache and Franklin Pierce University for giving me this wonderful opportunity."

Whidden was a four year player for the Green & Gold. In her most impressive season, she put together a 16-15 record with a 2.76 earned run average during a solid junior campaign in 2010. She made 34 appearances that season with 30 starts, tossing an impressive 200.2 innings.
