Senior Series vs. Eckerd; Lions to Honor Five On Thursday

Saint Leo Regular Season Draws to a Close

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo softball team is concluding their 2011 regular season schedule with a three-game series against the Eckerd College Tritons. Game one is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from University Stadium on the Campus of Saint Leo.

In their last time out, Saint Leo (23-28, 7-14 SSC) fell victim to the fifth-ranked Rollins College Tars as they were swept in a three game series last Thursday and Friday from their friendly confines.

Despite the conference setbacks, the Lions still have a chance at double digit conference wins, a feat that has not been accomplished since 2008.

The end of the regular season also brings with it the final home games for the seniors. Tomorrow evening, before game one, the Lions and the Saint Leo Department of Athletics will honor five graduating seniors for their contributions, Elysha Agen, Sarah Boyd, Ana Castillo, Jaime Walker, and Ashton Whidden.

The Tritons enter the series sporting a 14-37 overall mark and currently possess a 2-19 SSC record. Batting .236 as a team, the Tritons are led by senior Kirsten Cox and her .289 average.

In the circle, Eckerd has two pitchers with five wins apiece in Kaitly Dougherty and Alex Sasso.

Dating back to 2009, the Lions have won five of their last seven against the Tritons.
