SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo softball team took part in the seventh annual alumni game, on Saturday, October 24. 17 alumni took to the field to oppose the 2009-10 Lions, as both sides bid farewell to University Field. The event marked the last alumni evening at University Field, as a new softball complex is set to open for the 2010-2011 season.

Despite the 8-7 victory by the current team, the night belonged to the alumni. And despite the narrow defeat, the alum presented a stiff challenge for the current team throughout all seven innings. At the completion of play, all in attendance enjoyed some familiar tasty treats courtesy of Steve and Karen Brunt. Post-game festivities also presented a time to reminisce on past times and reflect on good memories. Reconnecting the past with the present was one the teams’ goals for this event and to say this objective was met would be an understatement.

Looking at this great group of ladies in attendance, talented, athletic, dedicated, and leaders are a few words that come to mind to describe these alumni. Head Coach Christi Wade added, “Thank you to each and every one of you for not only making this night a success, but for all the time, dedication, hard work and investment you did and still put in to the Saint Leo University Lions’ softball program.” She continued by stating, “We would like to thank all the current and former athletes’ parents and friends who were attendance to help make this night something special.”
