SAINT LEO, Fla. - Two Saint Leo softball players received All-Conference honors Thursday afternoon as Tatiana Casis and Amber Martyn were tabbed first and second team members, it was announced by SSC Commissioner Michael J. Marcil.

Casis, who was selected as a first team member last season, earned a first team nod again as she led the team in nearly every major offensive category. She played and started in all 55 games for the Green & Gold, she batted .414 for the year, scored 44 runs, had 56 runs batted in and led the conference in home runs with 17.

Her .495 on-base percentage and 14 stolen bases also led the team, as did her 26 base on balls and five triples. 32 of her 67 hits on the season were for extra-bases and she slugged an SSC best .852. She concluded the ’09 campaign ranked in the top of the conference in nine different offensive categories.

She snapped the Saint Leo single-season home run record this year and broke six NCAA records along the way. Casis was named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week once and was tagged as the NFCA National Player of the Week back in March.

As for Martyn, she was named SSC Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-SSC second team. The West Palm Beach native fielded .976 overall, committing only one error in 33 chances. In 55 games played, Martyn batted .333 with 25 RBI and 27 runs scored. She ranked 15th in the SSC in batting average and was 13th with a .503 slugging percentage.

Her 12 doubles tied for eighth most in the conference, while her 11 stolen bases (11-for-13) were tenth best. She was fourth on the team in hits with 49 and collected 17 extra-base hits. She struck out only 13 times in 147 plate appearances and finished fourth on the team in slugging percentage (.503) and fifth in RBI (25).

Voting for the all-conference team was conducted among the league's softball coaches and sports information directors.

In total, twenty-six student-athletes were named to the 2009 All-Sunshine State Conference Softball Team. Florida Southern's Sara Lovestrand was selected Player of the Year, while Moccasin skipper Chris Bellotto was tabbed Coach of the Year and Rollins' Nicole Anderson earned Pitcher of the Year honors.
