Saint Leo, Fla. (April 21, 2008) – Saint Leo University softball player Amanda Patrick (Fr., Tampa, Fla.) was named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday by SSC Commissioner Michael J. Marcil.
Patrick played a key role in the Lions' doubleheader sweep at No. 12 Valdosta State last Wednesday. She batted .625 with three RBI and three runs. In a 5-2 win in the opener, she went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs. In a 9-8 extra-inning win in the nightcap, Patrick was 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run. In two games, she notched a .750 slugging percentage, .625 OBP, and a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Patrick earned SSC Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. Saint Leo student-athletes have now claimed a total of 27 SSC Player of the Week honors in the 2007-08 season, and 30 Athletes of the Week overall.
The Saint Leo softball team (30-12, 9-6 SSC) will travel to Winter Park, Fla. on Tuesday and Wednesday for a Sunshine State Conference series at Rollins College. The teams will play a single game on Tuesday (7:00 p.m.) with a doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
