Saint Leo, Fla. (November 28, 2007) – The Saint Leo University softball team has announced its schedule for the 2008 regular season. The Lions open their regular season with eight straight home contests beginning February 9 at University Field.

The Lions will spend the majority of February at home, including the first two series of the season against 2007 South Region Tournament participants Arkansas-Monticello (Feb. 9-1:00 p.m.) and Valdosta State (Feb. 12-5:00 p.m.). The only stop outside of University Field in February is when the Lions travel to Clearwater, Fla. to participate in the Eckerd College Tritons Tournament from February 22-24.

The Lions kick off Sunshine State Conference play on February 29, as they will take on the Florida Tech. Saint Leo will then head to Alabama for a spring break trip that will see them face Alabama-Huntsville (Mar. 7), the University of North Alabama (Mar. 8) and West Alabama (Mar. 10).

A busy month of March will continue with a home doubleheader against NCAA Tournament participants C.W. Post on March 17. West Georgia, coming off a very successful season, will also make a trip to University Field for a doubleheader (Mar. 18). The Lions will close out March with three consecutive Sunshine State Conference series with home games against Lynn and Florida Southern, as well as a trip to Eckerd College.

This April will once again prove to be pivotal for the Lions, as they hit the road for all but one series. Saint Leo will take to the road from April 4 through April 23, as the Lions will make trips to Barry, Tampa, Valdosta State and Rollins. SLU will then close the 2008 regular season with the final SSC series of the year versus Nova Southeastern April 26-27.
