Saint Leo, Fla. (May 10, 2007) – Saint Leo University softball player Ally Maddox (So., Brandon, Fla.) was named to the 2007 CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team on Thursday.

Maddox led the Lions with a .328 batting average and seven home runs during her sophomore year, as she split time playing at first base and as the designated player.  She ranked second on the team with 11 doubles, and was third with 45 hits and fourth with 22 RBI.

A product of nearby Brandon High School, Maddox is majoring in Business at Saint Leo.

The Saint Leo University softball team finished the 2007 season with a 33-20 record, and the Lions were tied for third in the Sunshine State Conference with a 15-9 record in league play.  After beginning the year 1-9, the Lions had a 12-game winning streak midway through the year and concluded the season on a six-game win streak.
