Lions Earn 26th Place Team Finish at NCAA National Championship

SPOKANE, Wash. –  Crossing the finish line as the top team in the Sunshine State Conference and South Region, the Saint Leo men's cross country team earned a 26th place team finish at the 2013 NCAA Division II National Championship meet, held at the Plantes Ferry Sports Complex in Spokane, Wash.

The Lions earned 704 points on the morning, beating Florida Southern who finished with 723 points.

Valentin Lenz led the way for the Green and Gold, finishing the 10K course with a time of 32:20.80, setting a new 10K personal best and finishing 104th out of a field of 246 runners.

Sophomore Carl Dunne crossed the line in 123rd place with a time of 32:35.60, followed by Niclas Bez in 170th place with a 10K time of 33:08.20.

Rafal Matuszczak finished in 33:23.40, taking home 188th, while Brian Haynes completed the course in 34:29.70 to claim 223rd.

James Mullin and Christopher Westfall finished in 35:14.50 and 36:11.60, respectively, finishing 236th and 244th.
