Men Cross Country Earns 7th-Place at Black and Gold Invite

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's cross country team tallied 217 points en route to a 7th-place finish at the UCF Black and Gold Meet, Friday afternoon from the UCF Sports Complex.

Saint Leo's Valentin Lenz collected team top honors as he closed the race in 32nd-place at a time of28.27.70.

North Florida's Chris Haynes took home individual honors as his time of 25:53.69 dusted the field of 78 runners at the 8K course. Overall, the University of North Florida grabbed the team championship as they finished with 27 points.

Brian Haynes notched runner-up accolades as he posted a time of 28:49.81. Freshman Steven Brown also had an impressive evening as he registered a time 30:02.73 to round out the top three.

Eric Dirth finished inside the top-50 as he recorded a time of 30:08.32. In addition, four Lions finished consecutively as Kevin Papac, Spencer Mathis, Michael Walker, David Hill finished with 40 seconds of each other.

Jeff Van Natter and Matthew Basin closed out the Lions squad as posted times of 31:43.45 and 35:09.76, respectively.

The Lions will resume action at the Sunshine State Conference Championships.  The meet is set to take place on Saturday, October 12, from the UCF Sports Complex at 7:30 a.m.
