WINTER PARK, Fla. - Saint Leo freshman Carl Dunne has been named Sunshine State Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week presented by VALIC, it was announced by SSC Commissioner Jay Jones.
Dunne, a native of Monasterboice, Ireland, registered a first-place finish in his first collegiate race at the UT Early Bird Classic. Dunne led the field of 107 runners with a time of 20:20.66 in the 6K race. His victory marked Saint Leo's first men's individual winner in program history.
He is the second Saint Leo student-athlete to earn the conference honor this year.
The Lions will now prepare for the USF Invitational on Saturday, August 7. Hosted by the University of South Florida, the race will take place from the Claw Golf Course.
