Lions Run in Support of Boy Scouts
SAINT LEO, Fla. – Members of the Saint Leo men's and women's cross country teams, as well as other staff and faculty members from the Saint Leo community, teamed up to run in the Inaugural Honest Abe 5K Race to benefit the Boy Scouts of America, last Saturday, February 12, from the American Consulting Building in Wesley Chapel, Fla.
In total, 68 runners competed in the race with Saint Leo's own Jon Norris taking home individual honors.
Saint Leo University was the lead sponsor for the event, with all proceeds going to support the Boy Scout program of Pasco County.
The event was helped organized by a pair of Saint Leo Alums as Ryan Regensdorfer, the District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, and race director Don McBath, the District Finance Chair, coordinated much of the day's dealings.
Following the run, all contests were offered a hot continental breakfast courtesy of the Hampton Inn of Wesley Chapel. Division awards were also distributed among group winners at the conclusion of the race.
In addition, junior Carson Holton was acknowledged as the fastest Eagles to compete in the event.
The Lions are set to begin their spring exhibition season in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to SaintLeoLions.com for coverage on each of their five events.
