Lions Claim Three First Place Finishes at Embry Riddle Challenge
DAYTONA, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's and women's track teams claimed three first place finishes, and watched two personal bests get recorded at the Embry Riddle Challenge on Saturday afternoon.
Andrea Maxwell took home the first top time of the day in the 800 Meter Run, posting a time of 2:28.03. Kylie Fagan earned seventh in the same event, crossing the line in 2:41.80.
Patrick Hill participated in the 1000 Meter Run, crossing the finish line in 2:55.63, good for 18th place.
Freshman Natalie McCormick took home the Lions' second first place time, finishing the 1 Mile Run in 5:37.39, nine seconds faster than her next competition. Shelby Adams finished the event in 5:57.26, good for seventh place.
In the men's 1 Mile, Kevin Papac took home a 15th place time of 5:03.26.
Jelena Tancic earned a personal best in the 3000 Meter Run, earning a time of 10:20.23 and finishing in second place. Elyse Snyder crossed the finish line in 20th with a time of 12:34.05, and Allison Knipe came in 23rd with a time of 13:28.91.
Rafael Lohner ran a new collegiate best in the 5000 Meter Run, finishing in 16:05.63 and securing a fifth place time.
The women's relay team of Maxwell, Tancic, Fagan, and McCormick took home third in the 4x400 Meter Relay, finishing in 4:22.31, while the men's 4x400 squad comprised of Steven Brown, Mullin, Hill, and Gardner finished in 3:42.87, good for ninth place.
The Lions closed out the afternoon with their final first place finish as the women's 4x800 Meter Relay team of Maxwell, Fagan, McCormick, and Adams crossed the tape in 10:02.71. The men's 4x800 team of Gardner, Brown, Hill, and Mullin took home second, finishing in 8:24.13.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, February 22, when they participate in the ERAU Last Chance Meet, which will also be at the ERAU Track & Field Complex.
