Frusci accepts position at Baylor University

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Chris Frusci, Saint Leo's head men's and women's tennis coach for the past two seasons, has stepped down to pursue a new career opportunity at Baylor University.

"Saint Leo athletics wishes Chris Frusci all the best as he moves to the next stop along his coaching career," Director of Athletics Francis Reidy stated.

Reidy added, "While disappointed he was with us just a few years, it is clear by the programs' results he is a fantastic coach and recruiter. Baylor is getting a talented and dedicated coach. Saint Leo will now go about finding the next great coach to lead our programs and keep them in the national spotlight."

While at the helm of the two programs, Frusci led the programs to their first ever Sunshine State Conference regular season titles, as the men picked up their first SSC tournament title this season. He led the men's team to National Runners-Up and the women to National Semifinalist, for the second time in three years, after being named the 2016 ITA Division II National Coach of the Year for both the men's and women's.

"I want to thank Mr. Reidy and Saint Leo University, and the entire athletics department staff for giving me the opportunity to develop myself as a coach and a young professional in a great working environment," Frusci said. "Saint Leo has given me the tools to advance my professional career at a premiere Division II institution."

"Finally I want to thank all of the players and my staff with whom I've closely worked with over the last two years for their efforts and help making my transition to Saint Leo very smooth. They will be missed greatly," Frusci mentioned.

In two years at Saint Leo, Frusci posted an overall record of 43-8 and 11-1 SSC on the men's side and a 42-9, 14-2 SSC record on the women's side.

A national search for a new head coach will commence immediately.
