Men's tennis duo named to ITA All-Star Team

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Saint Leo men's tennis team saw the dynamic duo of senior Alex Theiler and freshman Alberto Barroso-Campos snag another national honor this month, as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced their 2016 All-Star Team.

The pair, who finished the season as the No. 1-ranked twosome in all of Division II men's doubles, was named to the ITA All-Star Team, and were just two of five individuals selected from DII to claim the honor. They were joined by Thibaud Berland of Hawaii Pacific men's team and Dallas Zhang of BYU-Hawaii women's team, who earned spots as the No. 1 singles players in the nation, along with the No. 1 doubles pair on the women's side of Zhang and her partner, Summer Wen.

Theiler and Barroso-Campos went 27-2, earning ITA All-American honors, and finished the season on a nine-match winning streak, including winning every match in the NCAA Tournament.

The ITA Collegiate All-Star Team honors the top student-athletes of the 2015-16 season from all five divisions of college tennis. The student-athletes will be recognized, along with the National Players of the Year and the ITA/Arthur Ashe Jr. National Leadership and Sportsmanship Award winners, at the 2016 Oracle/ITA Arthur Ashe/All-Star Weekend, Aug. 25-27 in New York, New York.
