Saint Leo takes down visiting Tars, 7-2

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 2 Saint Leo men's tennis team took down Sunshine State Conference foe, Rollins College, taking the match, 7-2.

The Lions opened with a 3-0 lead after doubles action.

The duo of Alberto Barroso-Campos and Alex Theiler took down Anton Bettink and Adrian Di Felice, 8-1 in the No. 1 doubles spot.

The pairings of Egor Panyuskin and Jaime Bueno, and Francisco Aparicio and Guillaume Vanelven, took both the No. 2 and 3 doubles by the score of 8-5.

Panyushkin gained the fourth point for the Lions as Rollins' Ahmed Albitar retired early.

Saint Leo clinched the match as Barroso-Campos took down Bettink in a rematch of the fall's ITA Regional Championship. In the fall, Barroso-Campos took down the Tar, 4-6, 7-6 (6), 2-0 ret. On Thursday, Barroso-Campos topped Bettink, 6-2, 6-1.

The Lions also earned wins in the No. 4 and 6 spots as Bueno earned a 6-3, 6-0 win, while Elliot Carnello took the 6-1, 6-3 win.

Rollins stole their two points in both the No. 5 and 2 slots.

Saint Leo returns to action on Sunday, April 3 with a 10 a.m. match at No. 9 Lynn University.
