Men's tennis jumps to #2 in national rankings

SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Saint Leo men's tennis team made a five-spot leap, moving up to No. 2 in the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Division II National Rankings on Wednesday.

The Lions are currently 12-1 on the season, with their lone loss coming to the new No. 1 team in the nation, Hawaii Pacific. The Lions have registered seven wins over ranked opponents so far this season.

In the new individual rankings, Alberto Barroso-Campos held on to the No. 3 ranking in singles, while Egor Panyushkin earned the No. 15 spot, and Alex Theiler moved to No. 17.

In doubles rankings, the duo of Barroso-Campos and Theiler moved from their previous ranking of No. 7, jumping all the way to No. 2, trailing just the duo from Hawaii Pacific, the only pair to top the Lions twosome so far this season.

The Lions are back in action as they host No. 34 NYIT on Friday, March 25 at 2 P.M.
