#7 Saint Leo tops #25 Flagler, 7-2

ST. AUGUSTSINE, Fla. – The No. 7 Saint Leo men's tennis team took down #25 Flagler in dominating fashion, winning 7-2.

The Lions opened up with a 2-1 lead after the doubles pairing. Egor Panyushkin and Fons Verberne paired up to earn the Lions first point of the day, taking down Lennart Lüneborg and Konstantin Dustmann , 8-1.  Alberto Barroso-Campos and Alex Theiler followed with an exciting win over Kevin Gonzalez and Lukas Storck , 9-7.

The Saints earned their first point with a win in the No. 2 doubles slot.

In singles action, Barroso-Campos, who is now 3-0 in singles play, dominated Gonzalez, 6-4, 6-0, giving the Lions a 3-1 lead. Guillaume Vanelven followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Daniel Arrien, for a 4-1 lead.

Flagler gain a point back as they took the No. 3 slot, giving the match a score of 4-2 before the Lions sealed the win as Jaime Bueno took down Storck, 6-3,6-1, in the No. 4 slot.

The Lions increased their lead as Elliot Carnello topped Lüneborg, 6-3, 6-3, in the No. 5 position, while Theiler added the final point on a come-back win, 3-6, 6-0, 6-4.

The Lions move to 3-0 on the season, and host No. 3 Armstrong on Saturday, March 5 at 1 PM.
