Men's tennis earns South Region bid

INDIANAPOLIS – Entering as a No. 4 seed, the No. 5 ranked Saint Leo men's tennis team returns to the NCAA Division II South Regional as announced by the NCAA Selection Show on Tuesday evening.

The Green and Gold enter the tournament as the fourth-seeded team, set to face fifth-seeded Valdosta State on May 3rd.  The winner will meet host and No. 1 seed Barry University on May 4th, with a trip to the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Finals in Surprise, Ariz. on the line.

The Lions carry a 15-5 record while the Blazers of VSU sit 15-7 before the postseason contest.

No. 2 seed West Florida will host the other South Region field, battling SIAC opponent Benedict on May 2nd. SSC runner-up Lynn holds the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 Rollins College as the winner will meet the victor from the Benedict/UWF matchup on May 3rd.

Two teams from each region will advance to the finals in Arizona, with each regional pod sending the winner to Surprise for the championship.

Times for the matches will be determined later this week for the tournament in Miami Shores, Fla., check for updates.
