Lions ascend to No. 5 in latest ITA rankings release

SKILLMAN, N.J. – Rising three spots in Wednesday's release of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, the Saint Leo men's tennis team ascends to the No. 5 ranked program in Division II.

The Lions jump three spots from No. 8 after a strong first month of play, a month in which it defeated six ranked foes.  Saint Leo trails fellow Sunshine State Conference foe Barry (No. 3) while Lynn and Rollins hold steady at the No. 9 and No. 12 teams, respectively.  No. 37 Florida Tech is the final SSC program named in the top-50 national ranking.

Both Alex Theiler and Egor Panyushkin garnered individual rankings, coming in as the No. 21 and No. 23, respectively.  Doubles tandem of Theiler and Bruno Sisti rank as the No. 7 team-up in Division II.

The Lions will meet Florida Tech in its next home contest, hosting the Panthers on April 8 for a 3 p.m. contest at the Saint Leo Tennis Complex.
