Both Saint Leo tennis teams garner top-10 rank

SKILLMAN, N.J. – Continuing their recent successes, the Saint Leo University tennis teams both rank in the national top-10 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings released Wednesday from the association office.

The Saint Leo men's team leaps to the No. 8 ranked program in the country, jumping six spots after its upset win over then-No. 7 Lynn University by a 5-4 final tally.  The men rose to No. 3 in the South region after the strong showing.

The ITA top-5 all remained the same as Lander claimed Lynn's No. 7 vacancy while the Fighting Knights fell to No. 9, behind the Lions.

The women's team holds on to the No. 3 rank after defeating No. 5 Lynn and Palm Beach Atlantic the previous week.  The Lions stand stalwart as the No. 2 ranked team in the South Region.

The women's side of the ranking saw former top-squad Barry dip to the No. 2 team while Armstrong moved into the No. 1 spot.

The Lions are set to face the No. 2 ranked NAIA program on Thursday, as the men and women will host Embry-Riddle for a 3 p.m. showdown.
