15th-ranked Men’s Tennis Claims SSC Quarterfinals Win over Florida Tech

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The 15th-ranked Saint Leo men's tennis team opened up its Sunshine State Conference Championship run as the third-seeded Lions defeated the No. 6 seed Florida Tech Panthers, 5-1 in the quarterfinal round at South County Regional Park on Thursday afternoon.

Starting off in doubles action, the Lions (14-4) fell behind after dropping their No. 1 competition to the 23rd-ranked tandem from Florida Tech.  After that is was all Lions as the Green and Golf claimed the nos. 2 and 3 doubles spots with Bruno Sisti and Matt Nicholson-Lewis as well as Ismail Lemtouni and Victor Lozier picked up wins.
Up 2-1 heading into singles, the Lions saw victories behind Lemtouni, Victor Lozier and Jacobo Gonzalez-Tarrio to claim the first-round victory.
With the victory, the Lions will advance for a rematch with No. 2 seed Lynn University on Friday morning in the semifinal round. The two teams met earlier in the season at the Saint Leo Tennis Center with the Fighting Knights claiming the victory.  The match is scheduled to get underway at 11:30 a.m.
