No. 12 Saint Leo Suffers 7-2 Setback to No. 4 Barry

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The 12th-ranked Saint Leo men's tennis team could not pull out the Sunshine State Conference upset as the Lions dropped a 7-2 decision to the host Barry Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.

Looking for another positive result, the Lions' (5-3, 1-2 SSC) two ranked players accounted for both of the wins. Matt Nicholson-Lewis, the No. 29-ranked player in the nation, defeated Barry's Renato Lombardi, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 3 singles. Ranked No. 21 in the nation, Aloua Adjenak upset seventh-ranked Marco Mokrzycki, 6-4, 4-6, 10-6, at the top singles spot.

The rest of the match went in Barry's favor with the Buccaneers sweeping through doubles and picking up straight-sets victories at Nos. 2, 4, 5 and 6 singles to slot the match in the hosts favor.

The Lions next opponent will visit the Saint Leo Tennis Center as Saint Leo squares off against Rockhurst on March 5. The match is scheduled to get underway at 3:00 p.m.
