PRINCETON, N.J. – The Saint Leo men's tennis team was ranked No.12 in the first edition of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Poll, it was announced Saturday by ITA officials.
The Lions, who finished-out last season with a berth in the NCAA Tournament and finished the 2012 season ranked No.13 according to the ITA.
Posting 16 victories a year ago, the Lions welcome in a series of new student-athletes to assist them to greater goals in 2013.
Individually, three Lions and one doubles duo appeared in the top-50. Aloua Adjenak is ranked No.21 in the poll, while Matt Nicholson-Lewis (29) and Victor Lozier (35) finished out the grouping. Meanwhile, Lozier and Nicholson-Lewis came in as the seventh-best doubles tandem.
Regionally, the Lions earned a fifth-place ranking in the south. In addition to the nationally ranked three, Ismail Lemtouni finds himself ranked No.17 in the south region.
Three other Sunshine State Conference teams cracked the top-10 as Lynn (3), Barry (4), and Rollins (6) each made an appearance.
