SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University head men's tennis coach James Bryce has announced the signings of Ismail Lemtouni and Bruno Sisti to join the Lions' men's tennis program beginning in the fall of 2012.
Both signing National Letters of Intent, Lemtouni joins Saint Leo from Georgia Perimeter College, while Sisti comes from the IMG Academy in Bradenton.
"Both of these future student-athletes will add to a squad that didn't lose a starter from last year's NCAA Tournament team," said Bryce. "They will only improve the level of competition, both in practice and during the regular season. As a group we feel this will only help us improve our chances of obtaining all of our goals."
Coming off their most successful season in program history, Bryce has added punch to his nationally-ranked squad as they look to improve their 16-8 record from a year ago.
Earning back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, the Lions finished third in the Sunshine State Conference, while seeing its first-ever win over Rollins. The team also finished 12th in the nation, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, while briefly cracking the top-10 for the first time ever.
Junior | Georgia Perimeter College
A native of Tangier, Morocco, Lemtouni excelled while at Georgia Perimeter. Named the regions player of the year, he was designated the nation's top doubles player and was runner-up at the JUCO National Championships in 2011 en route to an undefeated season. Competing out of the two flight position for both season, the back-to-back ITA All-American guided his team to a fourth-place finish, according to ITA, and concluded the season ranked 15th in the country in singles and tops in the nation in doubles.
Bryce's Thoughts: "Ismail has been one of the top junior college players for the past two years and will bring a great deal of experience and maturity to the tennis program. Top tier JUCO players are always big contributors to any NCAA squad, and I hope Ismail will bring the same energy and level he demonstrated at GPC. I am looking forward to his involvement."
Freshman | IMG Academy - Bradenton
Bryce's Thoughts: "Bruno is a big hitting Brazilian who has trained at IMG during high school. His work ethic and desire to improve will be a big help to our squad. Bruno's potential over the course of his college career is unlimited and I am looking forward to see what he can produce in the future."
Lemtouni and Sisti will join the rest of the team in the fall as they open up their preseason schedule with the Varner Invitational.
