SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University men’s tennis team (4-14) fell in non-conference action Saturday evening to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (14-6) from the SLU Tennis Center. Saint Leo began its day by dropping two out of three doubles matches and were topped in five of six matches in singles play.
After falling in the first two matches during doubles plays, the SLU tandem of Diego Timoteo and Jose Morales provided the squad some hope with an important 8-4 victory. The duo outpaced the Sailfish team of Tilton and Hines throughout the entire set and closed the door by rallying off the last few points to seal the deal.
The Lions, however, could not carry that momentum over to singles play as they fell in five of six matches. Richard Maclachlan did provide the Lions with an impressive victory at No. 2 singles blowing past Sailfish opponent Luke Balonos in straight sets 6-4, 6-1.
The Lions will finish up their season with a pair of SSC contests beginning with the Rollins College Tars on Tuesday, April 7 from the SLU Tennis Center. First serve is set for 3:00 pm.
