SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University men’s tennis team (0-3) opened home action by dropping each of their sets Tuesday afternoon, falling to the Florida Southern College Moccasins (1-0), 9-0 in a non-conference match at the SLU Tennis Center.

In doubles action, the Lions battled the Mocs for every point but could not register a set victory. The Lions best chance for a doubles victory came from the No.2 pair of Pablo Chavez and Jose Morales, dropping an 8-5 decision to FSC’s Ben Taylor and Javier Castro.

On the singles side, SLU continued to show its youth falling to the experienced Mocs’ squad in consecutive matches. Sophomore Diego Timoteo gave Saint Leo one of its best opportunities at a victory. After dropping the first set 6-1, Timoteo battled back against his opponent Guenther Fercher only to see Fercher pull away with a 6-4 set and match victory.

SLU returns to the SLU Tennis Center this Friday, February 13 for a non-conference match with Northwood (Fla.). First serve is set for 2:00 pm.
