After coming off a successful four year career at NCAA Division II Wheeling Jesuit University, Devin Murphy has joined his former teammate and current head men’s and women’s swim team Coach Paul Mangen at Saint Leo University.

Murphy had an outstanding career swimming for the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals. Under former-head Coach Jeff Stewart he earned four All-Conference honors, and was elected team captain his junior and senior seasons.  Murphy also earned Team Academic All-American honors as well representing the swim team on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.

Devin began his coaching career with his former club team, the Westside Wave in Lima, Ohio. With Westside, he coached two seasons as an assistant coach earning a fourth place and second place finish at WOAL Championships, respectfully. He was then promoted to the head coaching position where the team finished as the WOAL Champions during his two years as the head coach.

Following his college career, Coach Murphy moved to Columbus, Ohio where he coached for the Liberty Township-Powell YMCA swim team as an assistant coach. As a member of the LTPY coaching staff, Murphy coached several USA Zone and Jr. Olympic qualifiers on the team’s way to a South-East Ohio, West Virginia YMCA Championship. He then moved on as an assistant coach with the perennial Division I Ohio-Women’s High School State Champs; Upper Arlington High School. While with Upper Arlington Murphy helped coach several State and National Champions as well as an Olympic Time Trial Qualifier.

Coach Murphy graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University in 2006 with a degree in Theology and Religious Studies, and a minor in Psychology. He is currently working his way to a Masters in Business Administration with a focus in Sports Management from Saint Leo University.
