Title: Graduate Assistant Coach
Phone: (352) 588-7245

Former Saint Leo University men's swimmer Jose DeJesus returned to the University Campus in August 2016 as a graduate assistant coach, rejoining his former coach and mentor Paul Mangen.

"I am pleased that Jose will be back with us starting this fall," said Mangen. "He has proved himself a valuable commodity through his leadership, effort, passion, and technical expertise in swimming. Having known him in several capacities over the past three years, I can attest to his character, great upbringing, and what he will bring to our program immediately. He compliments the existing staff, and his coaching style will be well received by our athletes."

DeJesus was a member of the Saint Leo men's swimming squad in 2013-14 and 2014-15. He was the mainstay of the Lions' medley relay teams in the breaststroke and as a freestyle sprint specialist.

A native of Dorado, Puerto Rico, DeJesus was a team captain during his senior season and was a men's swimming representative on Saint Leo's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He graduated from Saint Leo in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in management.

"I'm pleased that we have yet again brought in someone whom I believe is able to contribute to our program and is eager to improve toward being a high-level coach in our sport," said Mangen. "I believe that has been one of the common denominators in our program's constant improvement over the past eight seasons."
