Bains and Mikicin earn CSCAA Scholar All-America honors

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo junior swimmers Hunter Bains and Milosz Mikicin were named to the Scholar All-America team Wednesday, June 21by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

Bains and Mikicin were two of 997 swimmers and divers across selected to the Scholar All-America teams for the 2016-17 season. The selections recognize student-athletes that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and participated in their respective championships.

Bains, a Monument, Colo., native, and Mikicin, a Warsaw, Poland native, were members of the Lions' 400 Medley Relay record performance on February 16 at the Sunshine State Conference Championships where the two teamed up with Henrik Dahrendorff and Luka Vulic to set the Saint Leo record with a time of 3:17.46.

At the NCAA Championships, Mikicin took 16th overall in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 49.74. Bains took 16th in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 44.70. Both Mikicin and Bains earned the Lions one point a piece at the championships.
