Saint Leo swim teams claim CSCAA Scholar All-America honors


SAINT LEO, Fla. – Both the Saint Leo men's and women's swim teams were recognized as College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of American (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams for their academic achievements in the Fall 2016 semester, when the CSCAA's list of Fall honorees was unveiled Wednesday.

Saint Leo men's swimming was among 34 Division II men's swimming and diving programs to be recognized, after charting a 3.15 team GPA in the Fall semester. Joining Saint Leo out of the Sunshine State Conference were Florida Southern, Nova Southeastern, and Rollins College.

With a 3.50 team GPA in the Fall, Saint Leo women's swimming was one of 64 Division II women's swimming and diving teams on the CSCAA team academic honors list. The Lions were one of seven programs representing the SSC, along with Florida Southern, Florida Tech, Lynn, Nova Southeastern, Rollins College, and the University of Tampa.

To earn CSCAA Scholar All-America team honors, a team needed to post a 3.00-or-better GPA during the Fall 2016 semester. A total of 638 teams representing 394 institutions across NCAA Division I, II, and III, along with NAIA and NJCAA members, were recognized.
