Three firsts carry men’s swimming to second at Tampa Relays

TAMPA, Fla. – Saint Leo men's swimming won three events and posted a second-place finish at the University of Tampa Relays, Saturday morning at the UT Aquatic Center.

The Lions finished the meet with 132 points, with the host squad from the University of Tampa charting 212 points to win the meet. The University of Findlay (Ohio) was third with 52 points, followed by Division III York College of Pennsylvania with 44 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Saint Leo picked up its first event win in the 500 Crescendo Relay, with freshman Michael Southward, freshman Christian Cioffi, junior Hunter Bains, and sophomore Lucas Dengler-Harles posting a time of 4:13.67.

Bains was part of the Lions' next event win in the 400 Medley Relay, teaming with junior Milosz Mikicin, sophomore Jan Dahrendorff, and freshman Luka Vulic for a time of 3:31.81.

Saint Leo's final win came in the 400 Free Relay, with Dengler-Harles, Mikicin, Vulic, and Bains combining for a time of 3:14.84.

NEXT UP

Saint Leo men's swimming will be back in competition on Friday, Jan. 20, when they travel to Melbourne, Fla., to take on Florida Tech in a dual meet. Start time for the dual is 2:00 p.m.
