Men’s swimming checks in at No. 19 in coaches poll

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo men's swimming held onto a spot among the top 20 programs in Division II, checking in at No. 19 in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA)/TYR Division II Swimming & Diving Coaches polls which were unveiled earlier this week.

Saint Leo picked up 63 points in the voting to earn the No. 19 ranking, and trailed No. 18 Missouri S&T by just one point.

The Lions were among five Sunshine State Conference men's swimming programs to be included among the CSCAA/TYR top 25.

Nova Southeastern appears in the No. 2 spot in the poll, followed by Florida Southern at No. 9. No. 12 Tampa and No. 14 Florida Tech round out the list of SSC programs in the rankings.

In the women's poll, Saint Leo leads the list of schools who are receiving votes but fall just outside the top 25 ranking.

Both Saint Leo swim teams will return to competition on Saturday, Jan. 7, when they travel to the University of Tampa to compete in the Tampa Relays. That event will open up a busy January for the Lions, who will have four events on the docket over the course of the month including a home dual with Rollins College on January 21. The Lions have been idle from competition since November 20, when they swam in the three-day Florida Tech Invitational in Melbourne, Fla.
