Men’s Swimming Ranked 14th in Latest CollegeSwimming.com Poll
SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's swimming team earned its highest national ranking in program history as they were ranked No.14 according to the latest CollegeSwimming.com Top-25 poll, it was announced by CollegeSwimming.com officials.
The Lions, previously ranked No.20, jumped six spots to land inside the top-15 for the first time ever.
Backing the Lions most recent success was a defeat of No.11 Tampa last Saturday afternoon from the Saint Leo Aquatics Center.
Compiling 147 points in the meet, the men smashed three individual records and one relay record.
In discussing the national poll and the upcoming meet head coach Paul Mangen, he was quoted as saying, "We are looking to crack the top-10, so we hope that we can go to this SCAD Invite perform well and swim times that are reflective of a top-10 team. It's a good meet against strong competition that we don't normally face and is the only meet we compete in with an indoor pool. We also have an opportunity to swim some events that we don't normally get to swim due to the format of not being concerned about place but rather individual performance."
Saint Leo will return to the pool on Saturday, November 29, whey travel to Savannah, Ga. to compete at the SCAD Invitational. The three day meet is scheduled to get underway at 8:00 a.m. from the Chatham County Aquatic Center.
