WINTER PARK, Fla. – Saint Leo freshman Matheus Assis has been named Sunshine State Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week presented by VALIC, it was announced Monday by SSC Commissioner Jay Jones.
Assis, a freshman from Paraiba, Brazil, tallied three wins despite his team's 130-74 setback at Nova Southeastern. Assis finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.17, the fastest posted by an SSC swimmer so far this season.
He also participated in a pair of winning performances via the 400 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams.
