SAINT LEO, Fla. – In completing his 2009-10 coaching staff, Saint Leo Head Swimming Coach Paul Mangen has announced the addition of Graham Parker as his assistant coach.
Parker joins the staff after a noteworthy career at both Notre Dame and Wright State where he was a Horizon League finalist in three events – the 100-meter Breaststroke, the 200-meter Breaststroke and the 400-meter Individual Medley. While at Notre Dame during his first two years of college he also was a Big East Conference finalist in the 200-meter Breaststroke.
“Graham is an educator and a real student of the sport of swimming,” said Mangen of his new assistant. “Having a person of Coach Parker’s ability join the program raises the stock of the team greatly and will ultimately help jump start the new direction of Saint Leo Swimming. Not only was he a phenomenal athlete and dedicated coach, but is also a good person with great character who is a perfect fit for this university.”
After graduating from Wright State in 2008 with his degree in Geology, Parker was the assistant coach for the Ocean City C-Cerpants Swim Club in Ocean City, N.J.
“I am excited to join the Saint Leo family as I will be able to continue my coaching career at a great university,” Parker said on his first day in the office.
Coach Mangen and Coach Parker will now turn their attention toward rebuilding Saint Leo Swimming. Their student-athletes report to school this week and swim practice begins Monday, August 31st.
