Fulk steps down as Saint Leo men’s soccer coach

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Keith Fulk, Saint Leo University's head men's soccer coach for the past six seasons, announced Friday that he is stepping down from his post and has accepted a position with the Tampa Bay Rowdies' player development program.

A national search for a new head men's soccer coach will commence immediately.

"I offer my congratulations to Coach Fulk on his new opportunity in professional soccer with the Rowdies," said Francis X. Reidy, Saint Leo's director of athletics. "He built Saint Leo soccer into a successful program, as evidenced by two SSC titles and three NCAA appearances. We wish him and his family all the best in their new adventure."

"We will begin our search immediately to find the next great leader for our program," said Reidy.

Over his six season at the helm of Saint Leo men's soccer, Fulk guided the Lions to Sunshine State Conference championships in 2013 and 2015. He twice earned SSC Coach of the Year honors in 2013 and 2015, and he guided Saint Leo to the NCAA tournament in three straight seasons from 2013 to 2015.

Fulk posted a 54-34-9 overall record across his six seasons at Saint Leo, and he has a 139-67-18 record in 13 seasons as a collegiate head coach. Under his tutelage, Saint Leo men's soccer players earned 15 All-SSC awards, eight NSCAA All-Region honors, and three NSCAA All-America accolades.

In his new position, Fulk will serve as director of the Developmental Academy for the newly-combined Tampa Bay Rowdies and Tampa Bay United U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams.

"It's definitely something different and it's a change. It's a chance to coach coaches in addition to coaching players," said Fulk.

"I want to thank Fran (Reidy) and the Saint Leo administration for giving me the opportunity to build a great soccer program and touch young peoples' lives. I feel this program is a lot stronger than when I started. I want to thank my alumni and my current players, who left an impression on me and from whom I learned a lot; I hope they learned as much from me as learned from them. I'm grateful for the opportunity to coach them," said Fulk.
