Lavie Earns Weekly SSC Honor for No. 10 Lions

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Saint Leo University men's soccer player Chris Lavie has been selected Sunshine State Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week presented by VALIC.

Saint Leo senior defender Chris Lavie came up big for the No. 10 Lions in the final game of the week when he scored his second goal of the season in the 87th minute at Nova Southeastern to tie the game at 1-1 and force overtime.

The native of Saint Michel Sur Orge, France and the other members of the Saint Leo defense held the Sharks to just three shots on goal through both overtime periods for the draw. Earlier in the week, Lavie helped lead the Lions to a 1-0 victory over Lynn.

Lavie and the Lions will head back to south Florida when they face Barry tonight.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Miami Shores, Fla.
