Schoenhuber Collects Player of the Week Honors for a Third Time
WINTER PARK, Fla. - Manuel Schoenhuber has been selected Sunshine State Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week presented by VALIC, it was announced Monday by SSC Commissioner Jay Jones.
Schoenhuber, a native of Bavaria, Germany, helped the Lions secure a spot in this week's SSC soccer tournament with a 1-0 conference shutout versus Nova Southeastern.
The freshman goalkeeper made four saves to set the stage for his squad's game-winning goal with just 51 seconds remaining in the contest. His shutout was his fifth of the season
It is the third time Schoenhuber has earned the distinct conference honor, and the eighth different Saint Leo student-athlete to receive SSC Player of the Week accolades this fall.
Saint Leo will travel to St. Petersburg, Fla. and Eckerd College for quarterfinal action of the SSC Tournament on Tuesday, October 30. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. from the Turley Athletic Complex.
