Tars Hand Lions 4-0 Conference Loss

Winter Park, Fla. – The Saint Leo University men's soccer team (6-4-0, 3-4-0 SSC) fell to the Rollins College Tars (8-3-2, 3-2-1 SSC) in Sunshine State Conference action Saturday evening from Barker Family Stadium by a score of 4-0.

The Lions, who just two days earlier claimed a double-overtime win against conference rival Florida Southern, were unable to break through the tough Rollins' defense as the Saint Leo scoreboard remained unchanged throughout the contest.

The first goal of the game came in the 19th minute, when the Tars' Skyler Russell assisted the ball to midfielder Alex Bisbee, who headed the ball past the hands of Saint Leo goalkeeper, Manuel Shoenhuber, and into the net.

The second half of the match was a surge of energy for the Tars that allowed them to push past the Lions defense and score in the 51st, 72nd, and 84th minutes, finalizing the score at 4-0.

Despite the loss, the Lions made 11 shots in the contest, while both teams combined for a total of forty fouls and six yellow cards during the intense match.

The men's soccer team will return to play on Wednesday, October 17 from Saint Leo University field when they take on the Florida Tech Panthers, in what begins the plus-one non-conference portion of the season. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m.
