WINTER PARK, Fla. - Saint Leo University men's soccer player Manuel Schoenhuber has been named Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week presented by VALIC, it was announced Tuesday by SSC Commissioner Jay Jones.
Beginning his collegiate career with a pair of shutout wins over Warner and West Florida, the Bavaria, Germany native combined for seven saves over the course of 20 shots. Schoenhuber made four saves in a 3-0 win over Warner before tallying three stops in a 1-0 regional win over West Florida.
He is the first Saint Leo student-athlete to earn the award this season, and also marks the first award of his student-athlete career.
The Lions will now begin preparations for SSC play as they will head to Boca Raton, Fla. to challenge No.2-ranked Lynn on Wednesday, September 12. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
