Men's Soccer Voted Seventh in SSC Preseason Poll

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Collecting 81 points, the Saint Leo men's soccer team was selected to finish seventh according to the Sunshine State Conference Preseason Poll; it was announced Thursday by SSC Commissioner Jay Jones.

Barry has been projected as the preseason favorite to capture the 2011 Sunshine State Conference Men's Soccer Championship, tallying 184 points and 11 first place votes.

With Head Coach Keith Fulk now in charge, the Lions see 14 returners from the 2010 squad while introducing 12 newcomers to the team.

The Green & Gold finished-off the 2010 campaign with a 9-6 record, including a sixth-place finish in the SSC with a record of 3-5.

Tampa snagged the second spot, while the 2010 National Runner-Up, Rollins, rounds-out the top-three.

Florida Tech came in fourth in the poll with 110 points.  Nipping at the Panthers' heels was Lynn, which collected 105 points to place fifth.  Nova Southeastern settled into the No. 6 slot with 95 points.

Florida Southern and Eckerd rounded out the preseason poll.

The preseason poll is conducted among the league's men's soccer coaches and sports information directors.

The Lions will begin Sunshine State Conference action on Friday, September 16 against Rollins College. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
