Saint Leo, Fla. (September 25, 2006) – Saint Leo University men’s soccer player Asmir Pervan (Sr., Simmern, Germany) was named Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Pervan factored in each of the Lions’ goals, as Saint Leo (5-4, 1-1 SSC) edged the University of Tampa 3-2 Saturday night to pick up its first SSC win of the season.  The senior scored both goals in the first half to give Saint Leo a 2-0 lead at the break and then delivered the assist on Brandon Jones’ game-winning strike in the 67th minute.

Pervan has now been honored as SSC Offensive Player of the Week twice in 2006.  SLU student-athletes have claimed a total of five SSC Player of the Week awards in the 2006-07 school year.

The Saint Leo men’s soccer team will travel to Winter Park, Fla. on Wednesday night for an SSC showdown with No. 17 Rollins College.  The game will kick off at 7:00 p.m. and can be heard live on the SLU Athletics Audiocast Network at SaintLeoLions.com.
