Saint Leo, Fla. (October 31, 2006) – Saint Leo University men’s soccer player Asmir Pervan (Sr., Simmern, Germany) was named First Team All-Sunshine State Conference, it was announced Tuesday by SSC Commissioner Michael J. Marcil. The selection marked the second straight year that the striker was a First Team member.
Pervan led the Lions with 12 goals and 27 points during the 2006 season. The local product from Northeast High School was also tied for the team lead with two game-winning goals, and finished his career third all-time in Saint Leo men’s soccer history in goals (44) and points (101).
Pervan was a three-time SSC Offensive Player of the Week selection in 2006, and finished the year fourth in the conference in goals scored. He was also second in the league with 0.92 goals per game and 2.08 points per game.
Major individual award winners were also announced. Rollins senior Chris Cerroni earned two awards, SSC Player of the Year and SSC Offensive Player of the Year. In addition, Lynn junior Leon Jackson was selected SSC Defensive Player of the Year, Florida Tech’s Ross Allen was chosen SSC Freshman of the Year, and Rollins’ Keith Buckley was named SSC Coach of the Year.
