Saint Leo, Fla. (Augut 8, 2006) - The Saint Leo men's soccer team was picked to finish second in the recently released Sunshine State Conference Pre-Season Men's Soccer Poll. Coach Joel Harrison's side was second behind Lynn University who was picked to win the league title for the first time since 2003.

The Lions men's soccer team was the first team in SLU history to claim a conference championship a season ago, as it went 15-2 en route to an NCAA Division II South Region Final appearance. The team posted a 7-1 mark in SSC matches, suffering its lone loss at home against Rollins College.

The SLU men's and women's soccer teams both open their 2006 campaigns on Thursday, August 24. The men will host Briar Cliff University at University Field, while the women will travel to St. Petersburg, Fla. to face Eckerd College in a non-conference encounter. Both matches will kick off at 7:00 p.m.

Voting for the SSC pre-season polls was conducted among the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
