Matt Musci joined the Lions’ coaching staff in the Fall of 2008 and begins his fourth season as assistant coach of Saint Leo Lacrosse.
Under his guidance, the Green and Gold has won two consecutive Deep South Conference Tournament Championships (2009, 2010), and a DSC Regular Season Championship in 2010. Musci has coached 20 DSC All-Conference athletes, one DSC Freshmen of the Year, and the program's first ever All-Americans and North/South Game representative. With his direction, the 2009 squad finished the season ranked No. 4 in Division II in Team Offense PPG (13.2), and seventh in Team Defense PPG (7.8), and the 2010 team ended the year ranked eighth in Team Defense PPG (7.5), and ninth in Team Offense PPG (11.4).
For his efforts in 2010, Musci was a finalist for the USILA Division II assistant coach of the year.
Musci joined the Lions after a successful rookie stint as assistant coach at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa. where he also spent his college career. During his time on the field at the DI school, the Dragons qualified for the conference finals twice and racked up over 20 wins during his career.
The native of Garden City Park, NY and Dragons’ captain during the 2005 and 2006 seasons has a laundry-list of achievements during his playing career. Musci was selected to the USILA North/South Senior All-Star team and was the Most Valuable Player during his senior year. He was also named the program’s Most Outstanding Player in 2005. The 2006 Colonial Athletic Association Scholar Athlete was also the winner of the Randy Voight Coaches Award in 2004.
A graduate of Drexel, Musci earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology in May, 2007. After graduation, Musci found time to earn his Series 6, 63 and New York State Life & Health licenses to try his hand in the financial sector. After obtaining the licenses he worked for Prudential Financial in Uniondale, NY before joining the Saint Leo University Lacrosse coaching staff.
Musci earned his MBA from Saint Leo in the spring of 2011. He currently resides in Wesley Chapel, Fla.
