Gilmour, Tatarian take home SSC Weekly honors

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo men's lacrosse saw junior Jake Gilmour and sophomore Thomas Tatarian earn Sunshine State Conference weekly honors on Monday as Gilmour was named SSC Offensive Player of the Week, and Tatarian was named SSC Defensive Player of the Week for games played the week of March 13-19.

Jake Gilmour finished the week with 12 points on four goals and eight assists. The junior averaged 6.0 points per game as the Lions went 2-0 over the week. He also added three ground balls and one caused turnover. Against Alabama-Huntsville, Gilmour finished with eight points as he dished out six assists and added two goals. He also added a ground ball. In the Lions win over North Greenville, Gilmour led the team with four points as he tallied two goals and two assists. He also picked up two groundballs and added a caused turnover.

Saint Leo goalkeeper Thomas Tatarian picked up a two-win week as the Lions topped both Alabama-Huntsville and North Greenville. In the Lions 21-3 win over UAH, Tatarian finished with 12 saves and only allowed two goals in 45 minutes of action. He finished with an 85.7-save percentage against the Chargers. In the Lions 9-7 win over NGU, the sophomore snagged a career-high 16 saves with a 69.6-save percentage.

This marks Tatarian's second honor of the season, and second of his career, while this marks the first award for Gilmour this season, but is the second of his career as well.

Saint Leo returns to action on Friday night at 7 p.m. as they open up Sunshine State Conference play by hosting Florida Southern.
