Jorgensen Announces 2012 Men’s Lacrosse Schedule

SAINT LEO, Fla. - Entering into their seventh season, the Saint Leo men's lacrosse team charges into their spring campaign with high hopes.  Head coach Brad Jorgensen has ensured the Lions will face a challenging and exciting schedule, and has officially announced the slate for the upcoming season.

The Lions kick off their campaign welcoming their distinguished alumni from the previous six seasons back for their 2012 Alumni Game.  The Green and Gold will get a chance to break-in the new grass game field on Saturday, February 4, with the opening faceoff against the former Lions set for 7 p.m.

Saint Leo opens their regular season attack on the road, taking on first-year program and one of the latest Deep South Conference members, Florida Tech.  The Lions will square off against the Panthers on Tuesday, February 14, at 7 p.m., before traveling to reigning DSC champion Catawba College for a key conference showdown on the 23rd at 4 p.m.

Three days later, the Lions take to the field in Charlotte, N.C. against Queens University before making the trek back home for their first regular season home game of 2012.  Saint Leo hosts Rollins College to open their home schedule, facing off against the Tars at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 29.

After their brief stint at home, it's back to the road for the Lions as they travel to Gaffney, S.C. for a key regional matchup against Limestone on Saturday, March 3.

The Green and Gold returns to Saint Leo, Fla. for a three-game home stand, hosting St. Andrew's Presbyterian (March 8), Pfeiffer University (March 10), and DSC member Mars Hill (March 14), before boarding the bus to travel north to face Wingate University in conference play on Saturday, March 17.

The Lions return home and make the short trek to match up against first year program, and new DSC member, Tampa on Tuesday, March 20.  After their showdown against the Spartans, Saint Leo hosts Lenoir-Rhyne in conference action on Sunday, March 25 in a 1 p.m. contest.

The Lions conclude March with a home game against MIT on the 27th, before kicking off the month of April against Coker on Sunday the 1st, ending their regular season home schedule with a 1 p.m. game against the Cobras.

Saint Leo wraps up their regular season campaign on the road, traveling the short distance to Florida Southern in their final regular season contest of 2012. 

After the conclusion of their regular season campaign, the Lions will look to advance all the way in the Deep South Conference Tournament Championship, with Quarterfinal action slated for April 10, and the Semifinal game to be held on April 12.  This year's Deep South Conference Championship game will be hosted by Mars Hill College on Sunday, April 15.
