WINGATE, NC – Saint Leo freshman attackman Matt Obermeyer was the honored with his fourth Deep South Conference Freshman of the Week Award it was announced by the conference main office on Monday afternoon.

Despite the rough week where the Lions dropped two of their three contests, Obermeyer netted 12 goals in Saint Leo’s three games last week. He started his week by racking up eight goals and two assists in the 17-9 win over Lindenwood University, the Lions’ only home contest of the week. 

He then took his solid play to North Carolina when he added three goals against #12 Mars Hill in the 18-8 loss, while capping his week with a goal against Lenoir-Rhyne.

Obermeyer also collected six ground balls on the week for the Lions.

Mars Hill College’s Tim Burns and Chris Cudmore joined Obermeyer with the Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors respectively.

The Lions will return home from another long trip to North Carolina and get ready to host Florida Southern on April 9th.  The game will serve as the Lions’ annual Senior Day as it also marks the final regular season game.  Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. with Senior Day ceremonies to commence prior to the game.
