SAINT LEO, Fla. – The upset bid that the Saint Leo men’s lacrosse team hoped for coming into the contest with the No. 2 Limestone College Saints was quickly put aside as the visitors scored early and often in taking a 21-5 win away from University Field on Saturday evening.

It was a game that was decided in the first quarter when Limestone (9-0) came out and scored the first eight goals to take a dominating lead.  Three quick goals from the Lions cut the score to 9-3 but that was as close as Saint Leo (4-4) would get.

A 7-1 second quarter had the visitors from Gaffney, SC holding a 16-4 lead as both teams went to the lockers.

Although it was an insurmountable lead, the Lions still put together a respectable second half, only allowing Limestone five goals.

Riley Loewen proved to be the unstoppable force for Limestone as he scored six goals and had two assists.

The only double-digit scorer for the Lions was freshman Dustin Goss, who scored twice in the game.  Alex Monteferrante managed a goal and an assist as well.

The Lions will only have a few days to recover as they will host Lindenwood University on Tuesday evening.  The game is scheduled to get underway at 7:00 p.m.
