WINGATE, NC - Saint Leo freshman attackman Matt Obermeyer continued his impressive 2011 campaign as he was named the Deep South Conference’s Freshman of the Week it was announced by DSC league officials on Monday afternoon.

Obermeyer netted eight goals for the Lions on the week, helping Saint Leo to a 1-1 record in conference play. He had a huge game in the victory over Wingate, notching six goals and two assists in the 11-8 win. Obermeyer added a pair of goals against Catawba.

He also collected five ground balls on the week. He was joined in the weekly honors by Catawba's Braden Artem, who earned offensive honors, and Matt Ramsey, the defensive player of the week from Wingate.

Obermeyer, the 18th ranked scorer in Division II will try to help the Lions rebound as they will look to get back into the win column when the host visiting 10th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte on Wednesday night.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
